Customers have compared the brand's Lightly Breaded Chicken Breast Chunks to Chick-fil-A's chicken nuggets, which drove demand and caused shortages in 2021.
Just Bare, which sells its nuggets online and at Wegmans, Sam's Club, and Stop & Shop, is losing its reputation for quality, according to Costco buyers.
One customer remarked on Reddit this week that the coating on a recent container of nuggets felt "dry and mealy compared to previous batches," despite being prepared the same manner.
I started eating them a year ago because they tasted like Chick-fil-A. "The last two bags I got two months ago were disgusting and I haven't tried them again," a consumer commented.
"Chicken was woody and grayish, and breading tasted odd. First bite, I spat out. Why do they struggle with consistency?
Another Costco consumer submitted a photo of older and modern Just Bare nuggets on Reddit this week.
The earlier nugget was large and well-breaded, whereas the current one was little and sparsely coated. "All the new chicken looks like it has no breading," the client wrote.
Some Costco buyers said Just Bare's chicken nuggets haven't deteriorated. However, many complaints concerning chicken texture and breading suggested that the quality issues were not isolated.
"We've also noticed a drastic drop in quality on these and won't be getting them anymore after our current bag," stated another Reddit user.
They have ridiculous amounts of rubbery chunks and gristle. Nothing like Chick-fil-A anymore. Sadly, this is our third consecutive bag like this." The objections went unanswered by Just Bare.
This Costco product has received severe quality complaints. Costco's bakery bagels have been reported to mold within days after purchase.
The warehouse club's famed rotisserie chickens started tasting "chemical" in February.
