Ellenos Real Greek LLC has issued a recall for its Vanilla Bean Greek Yogurt cups that were sold in 12-pack cases at Costco stores.
The four-ounce cups may contain undeclared egg, which poses a serious risk for people with egg allergies or sensitivities.
No illnesses or deaths have been reported in connection with the yogurt, but Ellenos has initiated the recall after discovering that vanilla bean yogurt cups were accidentally used to package the brand's lemon curd yogurt product, which contains egg.
The products were sold in Alaska, Oregon, and Washington and have a "Best Before" date of 4/23/2023 and UPCs 8 57290 00620 1 and 8 57290 00617 1.
Customers with egg allergies or sensitivities are advised to dispose of the product or return it for a full refund.
Seafood company Pescanova has also issued a warning regarding its frozen Shrimp Street Taco with Roasted Corn, Poblano & Chipotle Sauce, which may contain plastic pieces up to five millimeters in size.
Although the Food and Drug Administration has not listed it as an official recall, Pescanova is pulling the product from the market and urging customers to dispose of it or return it to Costco for a refund.
The affected products are labeled with the lot numbers 230359, 230370, and 230411, which can be found on the inner and outer packages.
Costco has had several product recalls in 2023, including the SimplyProtein Peanut Butter Chocolate Crispy Bars, which contained undeclared cashews, and frozen organic strawberries that were recalled due to hepatitis A concerns.
Food recalls are not uncommon and are often initiated due to concerns about undeclared allergens or potential contamination.
Companies and the FDA work together to ensure that products are safe for consumers, and customers are urged to follow any recall instructions to protect their health and wellbeing.
