Burger King will introduce the BK Royal Crispy Chicken Sandwich in Italian.
"The Italian BK King Crispy Chicken Sandwich features a crisp white meat breast fillet topped with a creamy marinara sauce and 2 slices of mozzarella cheese, all on a toasted potato bun," according to the website.
Though identical, the sandwich varies in two important ways. For starters, the chicken breast is more natural than the original's patties. Second, the bun is round rather than long.
The new Italian BK Royal Crispy Chicken will first be released in certain BK locations before being made accessible globally. The new sandwich may be available sooner in some locations.
More than just Burger King will serve Italian Chicken Sandwiches this fall.
Wendy's, known for its square burgers and Frosty, wants to expand into Italy. This month, Wendy's fans introduced two new Italian-style sandwiches.
The Italian Mozzarella Cheeseburger and Chicken Sandwich provide customers the "opportunity to have a true premium Italian restaurant experience in the Fast Food World."
It's debatable if a pork burger covered in marinara sauce with a slice of fresh mozzarella and a slice of fried mozzarella is "upscale." The chain is unmistakably promoting Italian cuisine to Americans.
"Have been looking for a good fast-food chicken parm style offering, but BK's version was inedible," one Reddit user commented after hearing about Wendy's sandwiches. "I'm hoping this one works."
Garlic fries, a Peppermint Frosty, and sandwiches will be available at Wendy's.
